On or about January 31, 2026, at 8:17 P.M., law enforcement observed a white truck near the intersection of 2nd Street NE and 1st Avenue NE, Faribault, Rice County. The white truck rolled through a stop sign and never came to a complete stop. Law enforcement then observed the white truck go into oncoming traffic and nearly hit two vehicles. Law enforcement then attempted to initiate a traffic stop near the intersection of 1st Avenue NE and Division Street East with emergency lights activated. The white truck turned left to go East on 1st Street NE, over the viaduct.
While on 1st Street NE, the white truck would not stop and started to increase speeds. Law enforcement also activated their emergency sirens. The white truck then swerved around another vehicle. The white truck then failed to stop at a sign at the intersection of 6th Avenue NE and 1st Street NE. Law enforcement continued to pursue the vehicle. Law enforcement’s speed exceeded 100 mph while they attempted to pursue the white truck. Law enforcement discontinued their pursuit near the intersection of Highway 60 and Eaton Avenue at approximately 8:22 P.M. Law enforcement learned the registered owner address of the white truck at the 500 block of 1st Street NE, Faribault, Rice County.
Law enforcement positioned themselves around the registered owner’s address. At approximately 8:38 P.M., law enforcement observed the white truck pull into the driveway. Law enforcement went to initiate a traffic stop in the driveway and the white truck attempted to flee through the westside of the residence. The driver then exited the white truck and fled westbound on foot. Law enforcement noted the footprints proceeded westbound and then northbound on 5th Avenue NE. Law enforcement observed the keys were no longer in the ignition of the white truck.
Law enforcement was told by a citizen that they saw a person running west on 2nd street NW and that the person was wearing a light grey hooded sweatshirt. Law enforcement observed a male matching that description. The male crossed over the walking bridge, across the river at the end of the 2nd Street NE. The male began walking towards [ADDRESS REDACTED]. Law enforcement told the male to stop. The male turned and looked at law enforcement and quickened his pace north. Law enforcement began to run and yelled “Stop, Police!” Law enforcement was eventually able to catch up to the male.
While attempting to handcuff the male, the male turned and tried to get away. The male was ultimately apprehended. The male was identified as ALEXANDER JAMES SKLUZACEK, [DOB REDACTED] (“Defendant”). Law enforcement found a key fob on the defendant’s person. The fob found on the Defendant unlocked the white truck. Law enforcement found an open beer can in the vehicle that still had some liquid in it. Law enforcement read the Defendant his Miranda warning. While interacting with the Defendant, law enforcement observed a strong smell of alcoholic beverage on the Defendant’s breath and the Defendant had slurred speech.
