10/02/1983 (42), violated the law as set forth herein. On March 5, 2026, at approximately 10:41 A.M., Deputy Grant Larson was notified of a theft report from Evansville Sport and Lawn, which is located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] in the city of Evansville. Employees reported that a utility trailer was stolen from the property at approximately 10:00 P.M. On March 4, 2026. Deputy Larson responded to Evansville Sport and Lawn to talk with an employee. Upon his arrival, Deputy Larson reviewed the surveillance video with an employee.
On the video, at approximately 7:20 A.M. On March 4, 2026, a black Jeep Grand Cherokee that looked to be a model year between 1999 and 2004 is seen pulling up to the trailer, and a white male gets out. The male walks over to the trailer, picks up the tongue of the trailer, then walks back to the Jeep and leaves the area. At approximately 10:00 P.M. That same day, the same black Jeep Grand Cherokee returns, parks near the trailer, and turns its headlights off. Approximately 2 minutes later, the Jeep leaves with the trailer.
Employees at Evansville Sport and Lawn told Deputy Larson that employees at First National Bank reported they had surveillance video of the Jeep leaving the area with the trailer. Employees at Evansville Sport and Lawn told Deputy Larson that the trailer, in its current condition, was valued at $2,000.00, but a new one to replace it would cost $4,000.00. Deputy Larson went to First National Bank in Evansville, and employees showed him the surveillance video of the Jeep with the trailer. They had video of the Jeep at approximately 7:20 A.M. And again at 10:00 P.M. On March 4, 2026. The video obtained during the daylight showed a license plate of DYL675. Deputy Larson believed it was the same Jeep Grand Cherokee that took the trailer, as it looked exactly the same and had the same stickers and decals.
Deputy Larson looked up the license plate and learned it was a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee registered to the Defendant. Deputy Larson looked up the Defendant’s last known address, and it was [ADDRESS REDACTED] North, Lot 401, in the city of Brandon. Deputy Larson responded to that address and spoke with a female who lived there. She said the Defendant lives at Lot 410 in the same trailer park. Deputy Larson went to that location, and a male indicated that the Defendant was not home but should be there later in the evening.
The matter was referred to Investigator Art Vinson, who went to Evansville Sport and Lawn on March 6, 2026. He watched the surveillance video, and it appeared to him that the white male in the video driving the Jeep Grand Cherokee was the Defendant. Investigator Vinson spoke with an employee at Evansville Sport and Lawn, Charles Riedel, who stated that he was in Fergus Falls on the evening of March 5, 2026, at the Fergus Falls Liquor Store near Fleet Farm. He said it was about 9:00 P.M. When he saw what he thought was the same Jeep that stole the trailer from Evansville Sport and Lawn.
