On January 28, 2026, at approximately 1:04 am, a deputy with the Anoka County Sherrif's Office was on patrol and driving north on Highway 65 NE from 181st Ave NE in the city of East Bethel. The deputy observed a vehicle far ahead of him that appeared to be increasing in speed and distance from the deputy. The posted speed limit was 65 mph, and the deputy increased his speed in an attempt to catch up with the suspect vehicle. Radar indicated that the suspect vehicle was traveling approximately 75 mph and appeared to be increasing in speed.
As the deputy approached Klondike Dr NE, he turned on his emergency lights and noted that radar measured the suspect vehicle as now travelling at approximately 100 mph. The deputy caught up with the suspect vehicle, a grey Nissan Altima with MN license plate SWF 683, just south of 221st Ave NE, city of East Bethel, county of Anoka and activated his siren. The deputy continued pursuit with emergency lights and siren activated in attempt to stop the vehicle, which continued to travel at speeds over 100 mph.
Eventually the Nissan, while traveling east on Heritage Blvd NE, slowed down significantly as the road curved to the north and veered into the oncoming lane. The deputy successfully executed a PIT maneuver and stopped the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, ALEXANDER ADAM BYLUND [DOB REDACTED], "Defendant" herein, was taken into custody. Defendant was determined to have a revoked driver's license. The lone passenger, J. L. S., told law enforcement that Defendant had endangered his life and that he had asked him multiple times to stop and let him out of the vehicle.
In a post-Miranda statement, Defendant told law enforcement that he could see their emergency lights and knew they were attempting to stop him but that he knew his license was revoked, that he was scared, and that he makes poor decisions. Defendant is in custody.
