On April 22, 2026, at about 9:15pm, Brookly Park Police responded to [address omitted] North, in Brooklyn Park, Hennepin County, Minnesota, for a reported robbery. The caller said there were five males in black masks with dark hoodies, all with guns, who took the caller's money and ran south. Officers met with Victim D. C. Y. At the scene, who told police he observed an incident with five young males with Metro Transit earlier in the day, and afterwards rode the same bus as those five young males to his apartment.
As Victim D. C. Y. Exited the bus, so did this group. Victim D. C. Y. Described everyone in the group wore dark hoodies with colors on them and had dark backpacks. One of these males came behind him and walked around him while pointing a black handgun with a black clip at him. The other males surrounded him, some also pointing guns at him. The suspect who initially approached told Victim D. C. Y. To hand over his backpack and wallet. This suspect took over $200 from Victim D. C. Y.'s wallet. The entire group of five left together.
One suspect needed help getting over a fence the group jumped over. Since officers responded minutes after the incident happened, they began setting up a perimeter in the location the group of suspects went. Officers saw a group of males matching the description running south towards Brooklyn Boulevard, and officers pursued. Officers then saw two males matching the suspect descriptions jogging on Brooklyn Boulevard heading towards an Aldi's and a bus stop. Police stopped two males, including AMIR TAQUARIS OGLESBY ("Defendant", D. O. B. 4/10/2005). Defendant was drenched in sweat, like he had been running for a sustained period of time.
While searching Defendant after stopping him, officers found a firearm on him. Defendant is a prohibited person from possessing firearms due to a felony conviction for a crime of violence in Court File No. ••-CR-••-••••. In a show-up, Victim D. C. Y. Recognized Defendant being with the group who robbed him. Defendant was transported to the Hennepin County Jail. In a Post-Miranda Statement, he said he knew he was prohibited from possessing firearms.
