On October 1, 2025, Minneapolis Police Officers observed on Milestone Cameras, suspected hand-to- hand narcotic sale transactions at approximately 1127 hours in a high crime area, Lake Street East and 15th Avenue South, Minneapolis, Hennepin County. Officers observed who was later identified as DEANDRE MONTRELL STOKES, Defendant herein, holding a small clear plastic baggie containing a white substance, approximately the size of a golf ball, of suspected narcotics. The Defendant then reached into the baggie and appears to then hand something from the baggie to a male standing next to him.
The male then balls his hand up in a fist as if securing something and walks away. Stokes then tucks the clear baggie of suspected narcotics into his waistband and in his underwear. The Defendant does this several times. Officers stopped the Defendant. The Defendant inevitably hands Officers the suspected narcotics that he had placed into his rectum while in the squad car which is captured on squad cameras. Officers recovered 12.3 grams of FTP crack-cocaine and $498.68. The State is requesting this complaint issue as a warrant.
The Defendant was committed to the Department of Corrections on 11/04/2013 in case file 27-CR-12-41897 for 2nd Degree Murder. He was released on parole 1/27/2020. On October 8, 2021, case file 62-CR-21-5806 was charged with Count 1 - Felony Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm, Count 2 - Felony Fifth Degree Possession, and Count 3 - Felony Fifth Degree Possession. The Defendant was committed to the Department of Corrections on January 13, 2023, for 36 months. The Defendant was released on parole again on November 13, 2023, where he absconded from supervision on March 21, 2024, and released again on March 26, 2024. Termination of parole ended on September 13, 2025. The date of offense in this case is less than one month later on October 1, 2025.
