At around 12:15 PM on January 7, 2026, officers were sent to the auto service station at [ADDRESS REDACTED], St. Paul, Ramsey County on a gun-pointing incident. Officers spoke to MB [DOB REDACTED] who said a man, later identified as SHAWN CHRISTIAN MADISON [DOB REDACTED], arrived in a red Trailblazer. Madison approached the front door and had a conversation with MB about a refund. MB said their dispute would have to be resolved in court, and Madison got angry. Madison reached into his pocket, pulled out a black handgun, pointed it at MB, and said, “I’m going to deal with you.” Madison backed out the door while pointing the handgun at MB. Officers reviewed surveillance footage which showed Madison wearing a black jacket with an object that looked like a black handgun in his raised arm.
Officers saw the Trailblazer bore Minnesota license plate [PLATE REDACTED], and they went to Madison’s residence. As officers prepared to tow the Trailblazer Madison came outside. Madison was arrested. Madison was advised of his constitutional rights and agreed to speak to police. He said he went to the store for the refund he had discussed with MB earlier in the week. Madison claimed all the mechanics walked into the lobby, and MB began to reach for something. Madison said, “So, I never pulled a gun on him.
I reached like I had a gun and backed myself out the door.” When asked about surveillance video showing him pointing a gun, Madison claimed it was a BB gun. Madison claimed he threw the BB gun away at Edgerton and Maryland Avenue. Officers obtained a search warrant for Madison’s residence. Officers found a jacket that appeared to be the same one Madison wore at the auto shop. Inside the jacket’s pocket was a 9mm handgun. Officers recovered a Taurus 9mm handgun in a storage tote.
