On or about January 12, 2026, officers from the Sherburne County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant for the residence, vehicle, and person of CHRISTINA MARIE MATTSON [DOB REDACTED], the defendant herein. The warrant was signed by the Honorable Gail T. Kulick, District Court Judge, on January 9, 2026. The warrant identified MATTSON’S residence as [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Princeton, Minnesota, Mille Lacs County. As officers prepared to execute the warrant, MATTSON was observed at the Casey’s General Store in Princeton.
An officer stopped MATTSON’S vehicle as it was leaving the Princeton Casey’s. The stop occurred near the intersection of Rum River Drive and 1st Street South in Princeton, within Mille Lacs County. The lead investigator arrived at the stop location and advised MATTSON of the warrant. The investigator asked whether MATTSON had any controlled substances on her person. MATTSON stated that she did not. The investigator further advised MATTSON that she was being detained but was not under arrest at that time.
MATTSON was placed in the passenger compartment of a squad car. The investigator searched MATTSON’S vehicle and found nothing of evidentiary value. The investigator responded to MATTSON’S residence on Willow Circle. A short time later, law enforcement brought MATTSON to the scene, and the investigator spoke with her outside of her residence. MATTSON admitted to recent use of controlled substances, including earlier that day, and that she was in possession of a small quantity of methamphetamine inside her residence.
MATTSON provided a detailed description of where the methamphetamine would be found, including that it was inside a blue zipper- pouch in a cupboard to the left of her kitchen sink. The investigator located the zipper pouch exactly where MATTSON had described it and observed that the pouch contained a white crystalline substance. Based on his training and experience, the investigator recognized the substance as methamphetamine. Officers also located multiple items of ammunition in the bedroom of MATTSON’S residence.
The white crystalline substance later field tested positive for methamphetamine with a preliminary weight of 2.65 grams without packaging. It should be noted that MATTSON’S residence at [ADDRESS REDACTED] is located within 300 feet of a city park. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes section 609.49, intentional failure to appear for duly scheduled court appearances may result in criminal charges in addition to any arrest warrant that the Court may otherwise issue.
