On December 11, 2025, at 9:00 A.M., deputies from the Wright County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence in Marysville Township, Wright County, Minnesota. A female called 911 and asked to “get this man out, he is killing me,” before she hung up. An individual identified as Danny Gay Jones [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter Defendant, formerly known as Danita Gay Jones, was known to live at the residence. Defendant had an active arrest warrant. Deputy Lovik and Sergeant Pelkey entered the residence upon consent of Defendant and observed Defendant in a chair and a male, identified as R. O., standing in the living room.
Defendant said R. O. Was being mean, yelling at Defendant, calling Defendant names, and disrespecting Defendant. While Deputy Lovik was speaking with Defendant, Defendant heard Sergeant Pelkey check with Wright County Dispatch to confirm Defendant’s arrest warrant. Defendant said, “you guys are going to arrest me,” grabbed a bottle of unknown medication, quickly removed the cap of the bottle, and put the bottle to her mouth in a manner indicating she would ingest the contents. Deputy Lovik reached for Defendant’s right arm.
Sergeant Pelkey grabbed Defendant’s left arm. Defendant took hold of a glass with an unknown liquid and started to swallow as Sergeant Pelkey tried to prevent Defendant from ingesting the medication. Defendant was raised from the chair and handcuffed before moving Defendant to a different chair while an ambulance was called. Upon inquiry, Defendant stated she took approximately one week’s worth of “oxy.” While waiting for the ambulance to arrive, Deputy Lovik tried to remove a piece of paper that was stuck to his boot by wiping his boot sideways along the floor.
Defendant told Deputy Lovik that she hoped someone disrespects his paperwork like that. As Deputy Lovik looked in Defendant’s direction, Defendant spit on Deputy Lovik’s face. Defendant’s bodily fluid hit Deputy Lovik’s chin, forehead, cheeks, and eyes. Deputy Lovik took hold of the back of Defendant’s head and pushed it down towards the floor to prevent a further assault. Sergeant Pelkey soon assumed ongoing restraint of Defendant. Deputy Lovik engaged in cleaning, decontamination, and remedial medical processes as a result of Defendant’s assault.
