On or about March 19, 2026, Bloomington police responded to a theft of motor vehicle call that occurred from Bloomington Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealership. Police responded and learned that at about 4:36 P.M., two men came to the dealership. One male was M. A. F. Who was attempting to purchase a new vehicle. M. A. F. Was accompanied by another male who was later identified to be Abdirahman Abdirizak Hersi [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. The pair completed financing documents in their names to attempt to purchase the vehicle.
After 30 - 40 minutes Defendant left the dealership showroom and began to cruise the lot in a Jeep that they arrived in. Another person was also in the Jeep that never came inside. Video shows the Jeep driving around the lot and then the lights flash on a 2025 GMC Sierra truck. The Jeep stops and Defendant exits the jeep and walks over to the truck. The lights flash again as he approaches and he gets in and drives the truck away. It is unclear how Defendant gained access to the keys of the truck.
The GMC truck was located at Spirit on Lake Apartments in Minneapolis. The vehicle was brought back to the dealership, and the rear-view mirror was taken a part, which thieves do to disable OnStar tracking in GM vehicles. There was also tinfoil wrapped around it. There were other personal items, mail, and other miscellaneous items in other peoples’ names. Video of the incident was obtained which shows a person resembling Defendant do the theft. Police spoke with M. A. F. On the phone. M. A. F. Said that he has known Defendant for two years.
M. A. F. Said that Defendant knew he was trying to buy a car and Defendant offered to co-sign on a car with him to helP.M. A. F. Said that he was picked up at 19th and Central in Minneapolis by Defendant and they then picked up a Native American female at Lake Street and Hennepin Avenue and then traveled to the car dealershiP.M. A. F said that other people told him that the Jeep they arrived in was also stolen. M. A. F. Said that he had no idea that Defendant was going to steal a truck. M. A. F. Says that he knows Defendant as "B" or "Biggie", but the day of the incident was when he learned Defendant’s legal name.
A photo lineup was conducted with the sale representative that worked with M. A. F. That person identified Defendant as the person with M. A. F. Defendant is not in custody for this offense and is currently pending charges for a similar offense in Hennepin County where he has been found to be not competent for trial.
