All of the conduct described herein occurred within the County of St. Louis, State of Minnesota, unless otherwise noted. On October 11, 2024, at approximately 4:30 A.M., Duluth Police responded to a report of damage to property at the Radisson Hotel at [ADDRESS REDACTED] in the City of Duluth, St. Louis County, Minnesota. The reporting party, who was an employee at the Radisson, indicated he witnessed a male, later identified as James Allan Taylor Jr., [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter Defendant, damage a vehicle with a stick in the parking lot of the Radisson.
Defendant then proceeded eastbound through the alley. Officers located a male who matched the description of Defendant in the alley on the west side of North First Avenue West, Duluth, Minnesota. Defendant denied any involvement in the incident and then proceeded to run away from officers as officers were attempting to investigate. Officers told Defendant he was not free to leave. The employee was shown part of the officer's body camera from their interaction with him and the employee confirmed that Defendant was the male who damaged the vehicle.
The vehicle had damage to the windshield and hood. The owner of the vehicle contacted law enforcement with a damage estimate from an auto body shop. The cost to repair the damage to the vehicle was $3,159.04. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn.
