On 04/05/2026 at about 0053 hours, a Minnesota State Trooper spotted a 2007 Toyota Camry, (MN/TNX321), driving at 113 mph in a 55 mph zone on eastbound I-94 near Pascal St in St. Paul, Ramsey County. The Trooper caught up with the vehicle near Marion St and followed as it traveled onto northbound I-35E. There, the Trooper activated the squad’s emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Yeiker Alexander PEREZ SANCHEZ [DOB REDACTED], did not stop. Instead, PEREZ SANCHEZ sped up and the Trooper activated the squad’s siren.
The Trooper pursued PEREZ SANCHEZ at 115 mph as PEREZ SANCHEZ fled to, and then exited I-94 at, Wheelock Pkwy. The Trooper discontinued the pursuit, but St. Paul Police immediately spotted the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. PEREZ SANCHEZ continued traveling at a high rate of speed and when he turned west on Hoyt Ave, he shut off the vehicle’s lights. St. Paul Police terminated their pursuit but followed as PEREZ SANCHEZ traveled south on Mississippi St, east on Arlington Ave and then south on Westminster St. Police lost sight of the vehicle near Maryland Ave, but quickly located it unoccupied behind at [ADDRESS REDACTED]. There, PEREZ SANCHEZ was found sitting on a bench next to the vehicle.
When asked if he had seen the driver, PEREZ SANCHEZ admitted that he was the driver. PEREZ SANCHEZ was arrested. During a search incident to arrest, police found the Camry’s keys in his pants pocket. The vehicle registered to PEREZ SANCHEZ’s father. In a post-Miranda interview, PEREZ SANCHEZ said he knew the Trooper was a police officer, knew that his drivers license was suspended, knew that he was driving over 100 mph, and said he fled because he was nervous.
