On April 9, 2026, at approximately 2:42 P.M., officers of the Austin Police Department were dispatched to 1506 16th Street SW in the City of Austin, County of Mower, to assist a Department of Corrections (DOC) agent with probation violation arrests. Upon arrival, DOC Agent Jimenez requested the officers to arrest residents JOSHUA JAMES PERKINS, DOB/122377, the defendant herein, and Geneva Bramley, for probation violations. DOC Agent Jimenez conducted a probationary search of the residence and located eight (8).45 caliber bullets and two baggies of methamphetamine.
Officer Hoefs entered the residence and DOC Agent Jimenez showed the officer where the items had been located. Jimenez brought Hoefs to a basement area with a desk and computer. Jimenez advised that the defendant told her he spends most of his time in this room at the desk and on the computer. Jimenez advised that she found the bullets and one baggie of methamphetamine (later field tested positive and weighed 0.2 grams) next to the computer. Jimenez also located a baggie of methamphetamine (later field tested positive and weighed 0.4 grams) in the defendant’s bedroom on a dresser behind a T. V. Bramley stated that any baggie with white powder in the house was methamphetamine and admitted that she and the defendant both used methamphetamine earlier that day.
Officers placed the defendant and Bramley under arrest and transported them to the Mower County Jail. On April 13, 2026, Det. Hicks spoke with the defendant at the jail. Hicks read the defendant the Miranda warning and the defendant agreed to speak with the detective. The defendant stated that he did not know there was any ammunition left in the house and thought all the methamphetamine was gone. The defendant said it was possible that methamphetamine was present in the residence and admitted his meth use to his probation agent.
The defendant stated that he uses methamphetamine approximately once per day. The defendant advised that Bramley is his girlfriend and they have lived together for approximately one year. He stated that neither of the two baggies located in the residence is Bramley’s.
