On July 21, 2025, officers responded to a past-action theft report at Real Sports Cards located in Champlin, Hennepin County, Minnesota for packages that were undelivered and suspected as stolen prior to delivery on July 7, 2025. An employee from Real Sports Cards reported that four of seven packages of baseball cards were received. All packages were marked as “delivered.” The 3 missing shipments contained a total of fifteen (15) baseball card boxes valued at two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500.00) each.
This resulted in a loss to the business equaling $37,500.00. Employees provided store surveillance footage which depicted a white male with a brown beard, wearing a FedEx hat, shirt, black shorts, and white tennis shoes. The investigation revealed that the delivered packages were delivered by a FedEx delivery driver who was identified as Cory Richard Brown [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. Investigators reached out to FedEx and learned that the Defendant had been terminated from employment. Investigators also learned from FedEx that the Defendant claimed to have no knowledge of what happened to the missing packages and does not secure his vehicle while making deliveries throughout the day.
On July 20, 2025, the business received a phone call from a frantic male who stated that he accidentally received a shipment of baseball cards and would drop the cards off at the business. The male stated that the packages were mis-delivered and his child [NAME REDACTED]. He also stated that he did not want anyone to get into trouble and would deliver them the next day, July 21, 2025. The phone call occurred after the Defendant was interviewed by FedEx. The following day, July 21, employees received a call from an unknown male stating the baseball cards were dropped off on top of the dumpster behind the business.
The cards were unboxed in a zip-loc baggie that was inside a plastic Target bag. 5 cards were still missing. Surveillance from the business showed a silver Chevrolet Cruz pull into the business parking lot. The vehicle slowed down near the dumpster area. The vehicle was on video leaving at approximately 1018 hours. At approximately 1023 hours, video showed a white male wearing dark colored shorts with possibly a purple side and white tennis shoes. Record checks show that the Defendant is the registered owner of a 2014 Chevrolet Cruz.
The Defendant is not currently in custody.
