On December 8, 2025, at 1304 hours, St. Paul police officers responded to the 800 block of Thomas, St. Paul, Ramsey County, on a possible domestic assault. The 911 caller was on an open line. The operator could hear the caller crying and breathing heavily. She said, “Can’t breathe, chest hurts…Martell can you let me go I can’t breathe.” Officers spoke to NML, [DOB REDACTED]. She said that her boyfriend of 6 months, Martell Jere’ Miller, [DOB REDACTED], was high on methamphetamine and cocaine. She asked him to leave.
He became angry when she would not unlock her phone for him. He grabbed her with his forearm from behind around her neck. He strangled her to the point where she could not breathe. He slapped and punched her in the face. She later said that he kicked her in the chest. She escaped and found another cell phone because he had taken her phone. She said that he also threatened her with a gun. She called 911 and threw the phone in the closet. He fled when he discovered that she called 911. Officers saw Miller in the driveway at 989 Thomas.
He fled from officers on foot. They followed footprints in the snow and arrested him. Officers did not find a firearm, but they and NML located her phone in a trash can near 610 Chatsworth. The phone was bent in half. Miller declined a custodial interview.
