Within 10 seconds of the Dozier brothers exiting their vehicle, Donnavin Dozier heard gunshots. Donnavin Dozier ran around the side of the building towards the back and noticed something was wrong with his leg. Donnavin Dozier kept running from the scene until he came to a house where he pounded on the windows to get help. Donnavin Dozier stayed there with his brother until police arrived.
Donnavin Dozier denied knowing who had shot them. Richards was uncooperative with attempts to interview him. Shataurus Dozier declined an interview asking for an attorney.
