At around 12:30 AM on December 7, 2025, officers were sent to [ADDRESS REDACTED] North, St. Paul, Ramsey County on a woman threatening others with a gun. Dispatch later informed responding officers that the woman had fired the gun outside the apartment building at that location. Officers found spent casings outside the apartment building. Arriving officers learned that the shooter was in a 2014 Ford Escape that was leaving the parking lot. Officers stopped the Escape and found SPRING JONAE MASON [DOB REDACTED] in the backseat.
The driver told police the gun was somewhere in the car. Officers arrested Mason. Officers searched the Escape and recovered a Glock handgun underneath the spare tire cover. Mason had a permit to carry a firearm. The driver told police Mason asked her to pick Mason and a friend up from a bar because they were drunk. Mason got angry and argued when they returned to the apartment. Mason grabbed her gun, removed the magazine, and set the gun on an apartment counter. The driver intervened and told Mason, “No,” when Mason produced the gun.
They went outside and Mason fired into the air 2-3 times. Officers spoke to TK who said she got a call from her daughter, KE-R (YOB: 2011), asking TK to pick her up because of an altercation at the apartment. TK arrived to pick up her children. Mason is now dating TK’s children’s father. Mason started to argue with TK when TK arrived. TK tried to deescalate the situation, and she told Mason she was just there to pick up her kids. Mason cussed at TK. Mason said she was going to get her gun and shoot TK, Mason’s boyfriend, and “whoever else.” TK went into a bedroom, and she heard Mason leave the apartment.
Mason returned and began breaking things in the apartment. Mason then exited the apartment, and TK heard three gunshots. KE-R told police Mason got mad at her because of things not being picked up in the apartment. KE-R’s younger siblings started crying. Mason got in KE-R’s face, but her father pushed Mason away from KE-R. The situation calmed down until TK showed up to gather KE-R and her siblings. TK and Mason argued. KE-R intervened because Mason said she was going to kill TK. Mason retrieved her gun from the car and returned to the apartment.
Mason pointed the gun at KE-R’s father. KE-R intervened saying, “Take that outside—there are kids in here.” Mason pointed the gun at KE-R and replied, “You act like I give a f***.” The two younger children were behind KE-R when Mason pointed the gun at KE-R. KE-R told the kids to duck behind her. Mason said, “I’ll kill everybody up in this b****.” Mason then went outside and fired the gun. AK (YOB: 2015) told police her sister, Mason, got into an argument with other family members. Mason had a black pistol and threatened AK and her siblings.
AK heard three shots after Mason left the apartment building. Mason agreed to provide a preliminary breath test sample. Mason’s breath sample registered an alcohol concentration of 0.15. Mason was advised of her constitutional rights and agreed to speak to police. Mason said she got a text from her daughter asking to be picked up because the girl’s father was drunk. Mason claimed her daughter’s father and the father’s girlfriend tried to fight Mason when Mason arrived. Mason got her daughter, and they left the apartment.
