On January 3, 2026, Minneapolis Police Officers were dispatched to an apartment located on the 2300 block of Pillsbury Avenue South on the report of an assault in progress. Officers responded and located a known adult female, Victim [NAME REDACTED], unconscious on the floor of her apartment and a second known adult female, Victim [NAME REDACTED], kneeling beside her trying to care for her. Victim One did not regain consciousness on scene and was transported to the hospital for treatment for her injuries.
Victim [NAME REDACTED] at the hospital and noted to have significant bruising to her head and a brain bleed. Victim [NAME REDACTED] is friends with Victim [NAME REDACTED] was visiting her from out of state. Victim Two recounted that she and Victim [NAME REDACTED] in the apartment when all of a sudden, ANWAR AHAMED MOHAMED, DEFENDANT herein, broke into the apartment. Defendant is the boyfriend of Victim One. Victim Two stated that Defendant woke them, and wanted “attention” from them, which they refused.
Defendant became angry and started breaking things including a window in the apartment, which he had shattered and pushed so forcefully that the frame fell out onto the ground. Officers documented the shattered window. Defendant then began assaulting Victim One and when she fell to the ground, Defendant stomped her repeatedly in the head. Victim Two stated that she tried to intervene and help Victim One. Defendant then began assaulting Victim Two, punched her, and stomped her in the head. Victim [NAME REDACTED] injuries to her face, which were documented with photographs.
Defendant was located in the apartment and placed under arrest. Defendant’s hands had blood on them, and he had blood on his face. Officers asked if the blood was his and if he was injured. Defendant responded that the blood wasn’t his. He claimed that his hand was broken, but EMS found no injuries to his hands. During transport, Defendant repeatedly spat at officers and threatened to cut their throats. Victim One regained consciousness following medical treatment at the hospital. Victim [NAME REDACTED] investigator that she didn’t recall what happened before she woke up in the hospital.
She stated that Defendant is an on-again, off-again romantic partner, but she currently considers him a friend. She told the investigator that a few months ago when Defendant thought she was cheating on him, he damaged the walls to her apartment in anger. Victim One had two large bumps on her forehead and swelling to her temple, which were visible when an investigator spoke with her.
