The following is based on your complainant’s review of the reports of other officers and your complainant’s own investigation: On December 15, 2025, at about 12:15am, Ramsey County Emergency 911 received a call from a home on Taylor Ave. In White Bear Township, Ramsey County. The caller said that his mother’s boyfriend had been “physical” first with the mother and then with the caller. A man could be heard yelling in the background. Ramsey County Sheriff deputies responded and encountered a man hiding under a tree by the home’s driveway.
He was identified as the defendant, ADAM ROBERT BENIK (11/22/1989). At the Neighboring Home A woman exited from a neighboring home, with blood on her face, hands, and clothing and swelling on her cheeks and nose. She was identified as NMT (2/27/1980). She lives in the first home with the defendant and her sons. She explained that this second home belonged to a friend who recently passed away and who had provided shelter to her during the defendant’s previous abuse. She said that she now cares for the home, as the family of her late friend prepares to sell it.
NMT continued that earlier this evening, the defendant had gotten into an altercation while she and he were at a bar in Vadnais Heights. She said that she left on her own and went to the home of her late friend. She said that eventually, the defendant returned as well, came into her friend’s home, forcibly took her phone, and assaulted her. She said that he punched and threw her all over. She said that after he left, she called her children to come to her from the first home. She said that as they began to do so, the defendant returned.
She said that she heard a loud boom and found that the door had been smashed in. But she said that the deputies’ sirens were beginning, and he quickly left. NMT noted that only she (not the defendant) was given a key to the friend’s home; she said that the defendant did not have permission to be there. The home’s entry door frame had been forced in, even as the door remained locked. Broken glass was all over the living room floor, with other items throughout that had been broken during the assault, including a TV that had been ripped from the wall and was now on the floor.
Office drawers had been pulled out, as if someone was looking for something. Photographs were taken. At the Family’s Home Deputies entered the family’s home. NMT’s 16-year old son MAT was inside. He said that tonight, the defendant had assaulted NMT. He said that the defendant also entered his (MAT’s) bedroom, repeatedly punched him, and kicked and damaged his closet doors. He said that the defendant also punched and shattered the patio door and damaged other property as well. He said that the defendant and NMT have been dating for about two years, during which the defendant has repeatedly been assaultive.
