On or about April 3, 2026 at approximately 10:34 P.M., Metro Transit officers responded to a threats call onboard the blue line light rail train 119 that was holding the train at the Mall of America platform on 24th Avenue South in Bloomington, Hennepin County, Minnesota. The initial caller reported a black female wearing a black coat over a green hoodie and pink pajama pants was threatening to kill the bus operator and continuously pressing the emergency button. This caused a 20-minute delay in the train’s schedule.
Officers arrived on scene and saw a female matching the caller’s description, later identified as MARGARET JEAN ANDERSON (“Defendant” herein), on board the train. Officers learned that Defendant was trespassed from Metro Transit buses on July 9, 2025. The train operator told officers that she would like Defendant removed from the train due to her threats and obstruction of the train’s operation. Officers approached Defendant and told her to exit the train. Defendant raised her voice and yelled at officers, telling officers that she would not be arrested and they would “lose their hands” if they touched her.
Officers informed Defendant that she was trespassed from the transit property, and they told her to grab her property and leave the train. During Defendant’s interactions with police, Defendant called 911 to report the officers. Defendant described the officers as “demons,” and she requested Bloomington officers come to the scene even though Metro Transit officers were already there. Defendant continued to ignore officers’ commands to exit the train. Officers attempted to physically remove Defendant.
Defendant began punching both of her arms towards an officer (“Victim” herein). Defendant held her phone in her hand and struck Victim in his upper lip area with the phone. This caused lasting visible red marks on Victim’s face. Officers gained control of Defendant’s arms and pinned her to the train glass. Officers told Defendant she was under arrest, and she responded that she was not under arrest. Officers attempted to handcuff Defendant, but she resisted by pulling her arms to the front of her body.
Officers struggled with Defendant but were eventually able to handcuff her. Defendant told officers she was pregnant, so they called medics to the scene. Defendant continued to pull away and resisted walking off the train with officers. Defendant “thrashed around” while officers attempted to search her person. Defendant made statements about the officers being demons or Lucifer’s sons, about being surveilled, and that her husband was “always watching her.” Officers were eventually able to confirm Defendant did not have any weapons, and she was transported to Abbott Northwestern Hospital.
Defendant was released from custody once cleared by medical staff.
