On December 10, 2025, at 1025 hours, Roseville police officers took a report concerning a road rage gun- pointing incident. ALA, [DOB REDACTED], reported that she was driving north on Snelling from Co. Rd. B2 and was attempting to make a merge onto Snelling. She had difficulty merging which caused a dispute with the driver of another vehicle who was also driving northbound on Snelling. She and the other driver, later identified as Amanda Marie Simonson, [DOB REDACTED], exchanged disrespectful comments and hand gestures.
ALA said that she got out of her vehicle while traffic was stopped at County Road C and threw her hands in the air, while yelling at Simonson. She stated that Simonson grabbed a black pistol and pointed it at her. ALA’s daughter, who was a passenger in the car, called 911. Officers spoke to Simonson who drove to the Roseville Police Department immediately after the incident. In a post-Miranda interview, Simonson acknowledged the road rage incident with ALA. She asserted that ALA was following her.
She said that she grabbed her cell phone but had to pull out her handgun from her purse at the same time. She denied pointing the gun at ALA. Simonson never did call 911. Simonson has a permit to carry a pistol. She acknowledged that she was trained to retreat from these situations and call 911. Officers recovered a loaded handgun from Simonson’s purse. The distance from County Rd B2, where the merging difficulty occurred, and County Rd. C, where the gun came into play, is about 2000 feet. There are no exits or turns between the two County Roads.
ALA had no other option but to continue north on Snelling. These facts do not support a conclusion that ALA was “following” Simonson. Simonson was convicted of Assault in the Fifth degree in 2023 in 62SUCR232509. In that case, Simonson sprayed a man with mace after another road rage incident motivated by Simonson’s belief that the other party was driving too slowly.
