On March 8, 2026 at approximately 10:40 P.M., Austin Police Department officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 1000 block of 2nd Avenue NE in the City of Austin, County of Mower. Austin Police Department Officer J. J. Mueller arrived on scene and spoke with the reporting party, Victim A (an adult female), who was sitting on the curb outside. Victim A was visibly upset and cried at times. Victim A said her husband, RUBEN TREVINO, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter the defendant, got upset with her the night before because she did not want to go out.
The defendant briefly grabbed her throat, however she noted she could breathe last night when he grabbed her. Victim A said that tonight she went for a walk after returning home from playing Bingo. She said she did so because she felt like “something was going to happen.” Victim A said she then went home and began packing items in their bedroom as she felt like their relationship was not working. Victim A said the defendant came into the room while she was packing and eating a salad, and he told her to pack up all her “sh#t” and also called her a “dumb c#$t.” Victim A said she tried to ignore the defendant, noting it makes him more mad, and he left the room.
The defendant quickly came back, saying “yeah, bi#$h get your sh#t and get the f#$k out of here.” The defendant then pushed Victim A while she was still holding her salad fork in her hand. The defendant then said “I’m going to kill you bi#$h, just watch, one of these days I’m going to kill you.” Victim A said the defendant pushed her against the wall and she slid down onto a piece of furniture. She then put her arms up to block the defendant from trying to hit her. The defendant then told her he should beat her face in right now, and he doesn’t care if he goes to jail or prison.
Victim A said the defendant then punched her inhaler out of her hand, broke it, and then grabbed her and threw her onto the bed. Victim A said the defendant sat on top her and grabbed her throat with his right hand for approximately 30 seconds, causing her to not be able to breathe. Victim A said she did not lose consciousness and was able to get the defendant off her by using her knees and kicking him. Victim A said she got up, walked toward the closet, and the defendant followed her, screaming at her, and then he left the room.
Victim A said she then went outside to call law enforcement. Victim A told Officer Mueller that after being choked, she had a headache and her throat was sore. Austin Police Department Officer Mark Tamke and Sergeant Jessy Betts and Lieutenant Jeff McCormack arrived on scene and made contact with the defendant. The defendant was aggressive towards officers, yelling at them and telling them to leave. Officer Tamke advised the defendant he was under arrest, and he initially refused to get up off the couch and continued to smoke a cigarette.
