On November 20, 2024, at approximately 6:30 P.M., law enforcement officers were dispatched on report of a burglary from a home in the area of Plumstone Drive in Eden Prairie, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Officers made contact with the homeowner's, "Victim 1" herein, daughter and mother upon arrival. Victim 1's daughter, "Victim 2" herein, reported to law enforcement that money had been taken from the residence, and a male could be seen on cameras climbing out of her bedroom window on the basement level.
Victim 2 reported that Victim 1 requested that she remove $50,000 from the safe in the home on November 19, 2024, and take it to Victim 1's mother's home. Victim 2 later reported to law enforcement that she removed the money from the safe and put it into a cloth bag while in the home, and put it in her closet while she left the home to do other errands. Victim 1 was aware of where the money was. When Victim 2 left the home at approximately 12:30 P.M., she armed the home's alarm. The alarm on the home was later set off at approximately 2:00 P.M. Victim 2 later returned home to see the garage, garage door, and her bedroom window open.
Officers reviewed the video, and observed Victim 2 leaving the home at approximately 12:37 P.M., and a black Jeep Grand Cherokee parked near the home around the same time. At approximately 12:40 P.M., a male exits the vehicle and enters Victim 2's bedroom window. At approximately 1:53 P.M., the male can be observed leaving the residence carrying a cloth bag and a shoe box. These were described as missing items noted by Victim 2. Officers also learned that Victim 2 was at the home with her boyfriend at the time of the incident, and both left the home together at 12:37 P.M. In a follow-up interview with Victim 2, Victim 2 reported her belief that the individual who broke into the home was ARMONI MALAWN COSEY [DOB REDACTED], "Defendant" herein.
Victim 2 knew Defendant to be an associate of her former boyfriend's, and believed that her former boyfriend coordinated with Defendant to burglarize the home. Victim 2 saw Defendant's social media posts following the burglary, where Defendant appears next to a dark colored Jeep Cherokee in a photo. Defendant also posted on Victim 2's social media wall "Which one of my girl cousins want $500 u aint finna do none but beat a mf ass" in the spring of 2025. Officers obtained and executed a search warrant for Defendant's DNA, and submitted a swabbing from the damaged screen on the exterior of Victim 2's window to the Hennepin County Sherriff's Office Forensic Science Laboratory.
The major DNA profile obtained from the damaged screen matched the DNA profile obtained from Defendant. Defendant is not presently in custody.
