On May 30, 2026, Deputy Zuehlke responded to a report of a domestic assault at [ADDRESS REDACTED] in La Prairie, Itasca County at approximately 10:09 PM. Deputy Zuehlke met with G. J-R. R. At the Solid Rock Church just down the street from the reported address. Upon his arrival, G. J-R. R. Was sitting in his vehicle with his mother, R. J. M., standing outside of the vehicle. Deputy Zuehlke asked G. J-R. R. What happened tonight. G. J-R. R. Explained that there was an incident between himself and his father, who was identified as Jeremiah Lee Reid, date of birth, 09/23/1981. G. J- R. R. Said that he went to the refrigerator to get a drink and had been attempting to ignore his father.
Upon realizing that his drinks were no longer in the refrigerator, G. J-R. R. Questioned Reid about their absence. Reid responded by stating that the drinks did not belong in the refrigerator and approached G. J-R. R., forcefully closed the refrigerator door, and instructed G. J-R. R. To return to his room. G. J-R. R. Reported that Reid would not let him close his bedroom door and was consistently referring to him as a “piece of s***.” G. J-R. R. Said that he then attempted to exit his room to get medicine for his headache.
He said that Reid instructed him to listen to him and then grabbed him and forcefully pushed him against the wall. G. J-R. R. Said that he was struck and that Reid grabbed him by the throat with one hand. G. J-R. R. Said that he was unable to breathe when Reid's hand was on his throat, demonstrating that he was gasping for air and stated that he had lost his breath. Deputy Zuehlke asked G. J-R. R. How it made him feel when Reid engaged in those actions and G. J-R. R. Said that he felt unsafe and scared.
Deputy Zuehlke noted that during their conversation, G. J-R. R. Appeared visibly distressed by the incident, had watery eyes, and was sniffling. Deputy Zuehlke also observed that the shirt G. J-R. R. Was wearing was torn on both shoulders, had visible holes, and was wrinkled as though it had been grabbed near the neckline. Deputy Zuehlke asked G. J-R. R. If his shirt had been torn and wrinkled prior to the incident and he said that it was not. Deputy Zuehlke also observed red marks on G. J-R. R.’s neck and some small, fresh-looking lacerations.
Deputy Zuehlke learned that Reid had stayed at the residence and turned off all the lights as he was aware that G. J-R. R. Had contacted the police. Deputy Zuehlke proceeded to the address, knocked on front door, and identified himself as law enforcement. There was no response. Deputy Zuehlke returned to his squad vehicle to draft a search warrant. Eventually, Reid exited the house, and Deputy Zuehlke approached the main door, placed, handcuffs in the rear position, and escorted Reid to his squad vehicle.
While speaking with Reid, Deputy Zuehlke observed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person and noted that his eyes were bloodshot. Reid was transported to the Itasca County Jail without issue.
