On October 4, 2025, at 6:57 P.M. Deputy Lisic observed a truck hauling a camber that did not have taillamps illuminated on Highway 24 near 103rd Street NW in Corinna Township, Wright County, Minnesota. Deputy Lisic noted sunset occurred at 6:52 P.M. Deputy Lisic stopped the vehicle. The driver got out of the vehicle but got back in when Deputy Lisic told him to do so. The driver was identified as Thomas Donald Knott, [DOB REDACTED], defendant herein. The defendant had a bill of sale for the camper but there was a discrepancy concerning ownership.
Deputy Lisic asked a male passenger in the vehicle for his name. The name given by the passenger did not come back in records. When confronted with this information, the passenger said he likely had a warrant and admitted giving a false name. Deputy Lisic confirmed the passenger had a warrant. The passenger was arrested on the warrant. The passenger had 1.75 grams of marijuana in a jar that was not in approved packaging and a pipe used to smoke marijuana. Deputy Lisic searched the vehicle and found a pipe with white crystal residue on it consistent with methamphetamine use.
The defendant had bloodshot and watery eyes. Deputy Lisic observed the defendant’s eyelids had tremors. The defendant said he used marijuana the day before but denied other drug use. Deputy Lisic asked the defendant to perform field sobriety tests. The defendant initially refused to perform field sobriety tests. The defendant then agreed to perform field sobriety test during the performance of which he demonstrated that he was under the influence of a controlled substance. The defendant was arrested for driving while under the influence of a controlled substance.
Deputy Lisic obtained a search warrant authorizing the taking of a blood or urine sample from the defendant. A blood sample was obtained from the defendant at the hospital. The blood test was analyzed by the BCA revealing the presence of methamphetamine and amphetamine, both Schedule II controlled substances. Court records show the defendant was convicted of felony criminal vehicular operation for an alcohol concentration of.08 or more in 2017 (••-CR-••-••••).
