On March 16, 2026, Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 410 6th Street NW in Milaca, Mille Lacs County on a report of a disturbance with a female choking on the phone. Upon arrival, Deputies observed a male, later identified as Defendant JESSE WILLIAM LATTERELL [DOB REDACTED] at the door and was behaving defensively toward them. Defendant was detained and removed from the entrance area. The door was unlocked and opened by a female adult later identified as A. K. H. Deputies immediately noticed a sharp odor consistent with pepper spray.
Deputies observed A. K. H. To be shaken up and bleeding from her nose. They took her into her bedroom to get away from exposure to the pepper spray and talk with her. A. K. H. Told them she had sprayed Defendant with the pepper spray. A. K. H. Referred to Defendant as her husband. There are four children in the house, two of whom are autistic. A. K. H. Reported that earlier in the evening, a woman of Asian ethnicity had been transported to the residence from the metro area by a third party. While A. K. H. Was out at a doctor’s appointment, Defendant texted her to tell her that he was bringing a woman to the house to spend time with them and she spoke little to no English.
A. K. H. Was uncomfortable with this as the woman was a stranger and she has children in the house. However, at one point he then told her they were together in A. K. H. And Defendant’s bed, and then told her they were laying together on a couch in the office. A. K. H. Reported that when she arrived home, the woman was there. She also saw that the woman looked uncomfortable and scared. She was trying to speak with the children but spoke very broken English. She wanted the woman to leave the house, and arrangements were made to drive the woman back to the Cities.
A. K. H. Reported that after the woman left, she became upset that Defendant would bring the woman into the house and confronted him. She also told him the woman was scared, and that he has to treat humans with respect. She reported that Defendant then got off the couch and hit her. She defended herself by spraying him with pepper spray, and Defendant then threw A. K. H. To the ground and stomped on her back, and then choked her. A. K. H. Was able to get to her phone and call 911. A. K. H. Also reported that around April 2025, Defendant had assaulted her and fractured her wrist, but she had not reported it.
A. K. H. Told Deputies she and Defendant are supposed to fly down to Miami on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. She stated the trip was made suddenly. Deputies later located a travel receipt for Defendant showing a booking confirmation for a hotel in Miami for March 18 through March 24, 2026. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn. Stat. § 609.49., intentional failure to appear for duly scheduled court appearances may result in additional criminal charges, and in addition to any arrest warrant that may otherwise be issued by the Court.
