That on or about April 12, 2026, an officer with the Blaine Police Department responded to Walmart, located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] NE, Blaine, Anoka County, Minnesota in reference to a possible theft that had occurred around 7:00 P.M. Upon arrival, law enforcement spoke with Witness #1, a Walmart employee. Law enforcement learned that at approximately 6:58 P.M., a silver Ford Taurus with Minnesota license plate [PLATE REDACTED] parked on the northwest side of the Walmart parking lot. The driver of the vehicle then entered the store and proceeded to the electronics area of the store.
Once in the electronic area, the male took possession of a CyberPowerPC, valued at $1,099.00, and placed the item into his cart. The male then exited out a fire door to the aforementioned vehicle, driven by an unknown person. The male made no attempt to purchase the computer. A KOPS alert was issued. On April 14, 2026, at approximately 8:00 P.M., Robbinsdale Police Department personnel conducted a traffic stop on the Taurus. The occupants of the vehicle were identified but did not match the suspect from the Walmart theft.
One of the passengers stated he had purchased the vehicle earlier in the day from an individual on Facebook, identified by username as “Gilbert Wana”. The occupant produced screenshots showing conversation with “Gilbert Wana” regarding the vehicle transaction. Law enforcement determined “Gilbert Wana” matched the description of the male from the Walmart incident. Law enforcement further identified the phone number associated with “Gilbert Wana”. Using various investigative resources, law enforcement learned the phone number was associated with LEO GILBERT WANNA [DOB REDACTED], herein after Defendant.
Law enforcement continued to conduct investigation into Defendant’s social media. Law enforcement located several items of evidentiary value, which included a photograph of the stolen computer in a box listed for sale on Defendant’s Facebook Marketplace page. The description included the full model number matching what Walmart reported was stolen from their store. In one of the photos of the computer box, Defendant’s “Wanna” tattoo on his left hand is visible. Law enforcement were also able to determine Defendant matched the physical description of the suspect in the Walmart theft.
The State respectfully requests a complaint summons in this matter.
