On March 14, 2026, officers responded to a domestic-abuse-in-progress call at [ADDRESS REDACTED]—a Speedway gas station in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Call remarks relayed that Speedway staff were reporting two parties arguing inside a vehicle. As officers responded, they received updated information that the suspect had taken the vehicle, making this an auto theft as well. At the scene, a responding officer spoke with an adult female (“Victim”) about the incident. Victim identified the suspect as her ex-boyfriend, Defendant ANGEL MAURICIO DOMINGUEZ-CHON, born on [DOB REDACTED]. While speaking with Victim, an officer noted red marks on her neck.
Victim explained that she and Defendant have dated on and off for about three years, that they have a child [NAME REDACTED], and that they have presently been separated for about two months. Before the incident, Victim was driving her vehicle with the baby in the backseat. At some point while driving, Victim [NAME REDACTED] from the trunk area to the back seat of the vehicle. Victim and Defendant began to verbally argue. Victim drove to the Speedway gas station because she knows an employee there.
Once Victim [NAME REDACTED] at Speedway, she told Defendant that she would call the police if he did not exit the vehicle. Defendant responded by trying to take Victim’s phone, which led to a struggle. Victim [NAME REDACTED] from her vehicle to keep it from Defendant During the struggle, Victim hit her head against the steering wheel and was turned upside down. In addition, Defendant grabbed onto Victim’s hoodie, pulled it up, and strangled Victim. Victim [NAME REDACTED] had difficulty breathing when Defendant did this.
Victim [NAME REDACTED] from the strangulation. She and Defendant then physically struggled again because Defendant tried to take the parties’ child. Defendant again strangled Victim by pulling her hoodie back, which prevented Victim [NAME REDACTED]. A gas station employee (“Witness”) ultimately intervened, which allowed Victim [NAME REDACTED] from the vehicle and flee on foot into the gas station. Defendant left in Victim’s vehicle. Another responding officer spoke with Witness, who reported that Victim had texted them to see if Victim could come to the store.
While inside the store, Witness saw that Victim’s vehicle was parked near a gas pump for a longer timeframe than expected. Witness found it strange that Victim had the driver’s door open on the vehicle given the colder weather. At some point, Witness observed Victim’s head turned sideways, as if Victim was looking toward the gas station. Witness then saw Victim’s head jerk backwards as if she was being pulled toward the rear seats. Witness identified Defendant sitting in the rear driver’s side seat and pulling Victim back.
Witness went outside and immediately told Defendant to release Victim. When Witness did this, she noted red marks on Victim’s neck. After separating Victim [NAME REDACTED], Witness told Victim [NAME REDACTED] inside Speedway with her baby. Witness then saw Defendant walking away east on 60th Street. As Witness began walking back toward Speedway, they heard loud steps approaching from behind. Witness saw Defendant enter Victim’s car and drive away. Milestone footage captured a male entering Victim’s vehicle and driving away.
