On December 16, 2025, at approximately 12:09 A.M., Wright County Deputy Lisic observed the driver of a blue Chevrolet Cobalt driving on Ash St approaching Hwy 24, Clearwater, Wright County, Minnesota, with a non-functioning driver’s side brake lamp. As the driver turned onto the on-ramp to WB I-94, he signaled the driver to stop and he pulled over. Dep. Lisic approached the driver’s side of the vehicle identifying the driver by MN DL as Paul Gregory Day, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter the defendant.
When asked about insurance, the passenger Yia Vang said he was borrowing the vehicle and it belonged to someone he lived with, he was unsure of the company name. A torch lighter was visible in the center console, consistent with use of controlled substances. Both parties appeared under the influence of a controlled substance. The defendant denied consuming alcohol or drug use. In the area of the steering column/instrument panel Dep. Lisic observed a yellow oblong pill with a split in the middle, and the letters “CP” imprinted on it.
The defendant denied any knowledge of it. A quick Google search showed related ecstasy/MDMA pills of the same shape and imprinting albeit pink in color. Vang said there was no insurance on the vehicle. The defendant was asked to perform field sobriety testing based on the Deputy’s earlier observed indications of impairment and now the MDMA pill near him. He agreed and exited the vehicle. The defendant failed the field sobriety tests and submitted to a blood test. On 1/12/26, Dep. Lisic received the results from the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension which showed no controlled substances in the defendant’s blood sample.
On 1/6/26, Dep. Lisic received test results from the Midwest Regional Forensic Laboratory which indicated that the yellow pill weighed.453 grams and contained methylenedioxymethamphetamine and methamphetamine.
