On August 18, 2025, Minneapolis Police were contacted by the property manager (“Victim”) of a multi-unit apartment building located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, regarding extensive damage to the entrance and other common areas of the building perpetrated by two females on the morning of August 17, 2025. Victim provided police with high-quality surveillance videos that showed the two females using a hammer to smash the glass entrance doors, shatter panels, damage walls, and then spray chocolate or caramel sauce on the walls, the carpet and the floor.
The surveillance video shows the females arriving in a black Chevrolet Cruz with a known Minnesota license plate. The two females returned to the apartment building on August 21, 2025, armed with a baseball bat and a stick. Police responded and found a chaotic scene outside the apartment building. Police formally identified the two females as sisters V’YANNI SHANIYA ROSENBLOOM, adult Defendant herein, and 17- year-old Respondent D. M. M. Defendant’s and Respondent’s mother also was present, having driven the sisters to the apartment building in the black Chevrolet Cruz seen in the surveillance video on August 17, 2025. The mother of Defendant and Respondent explained that her daughters were having a dispute with their former friend who lived in a unit within the apartment building.
Surveillance video from August 17, 2025, shows Defendant smashing windows with a hammer and shows Respondent squirting chocolate or caramel sauce on the interior of the building. Defendant additional smeared feces on the building and hung a bag of feces on the outer door of the apartment building. On August 27, 2025, Victim [NAME REDACTED] investigator: “This situation is more than just property damage. These individuals have repeatedly come onto the property over the last month, spraying pepper spray, vandalizing the building, and creating an unsafe environment for residents and their families.
The fear they've caused has been significant, and we want to ensure accountability.” Victim provided police with a quote for replacement of the broken windows, totaling $6,115 for material and $1,500 for labor. Victim also provided an estimate for repair or replacement of carpet, damaged doors and hinges, and patching drywall and repainting, totaling $3,055.22. The grand total of damage to the apartment building caused by Defendant and Respondent was $10,670.22.
