On September 25, 2025, the Fridley Police Department was dispatched to the Sherwin Williams store, "Victim" herein, located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] NE, city of Fridley, county of Anoka, on a report of dishonored checks. A. R, the assistant manager of Victim, reported that a female, later identified as ROBIN LEIGH DURYEE [DOB REDACTED], "Defendant" herein, had made three separate purchases at the store and paid all transactions by check. The checks were later returned and Victim [NAME REDACTED] from the banks that the accounts were closed.
Victim never received payment for the merchandise. Defendant purchased a Titan Impact paint sprayer and paint on August 12, 2025, for $1,420.74. Defendant then made additional purchases on August 14, 2025, in the amount of $407.86 and on August 15, 2025, for $422.79. The total loss to Victim [NAME REDACTED] is $2,251.39. For the first two purchases, Defendant wrote checks drawn on Deerwood Bank with a listed account owner of Brian Duryee. For the third purchase, Defendant wrote a check drawn on Chase bank with a listed account owner of Brian Duryee.
The handwriting on all three checks matched, and while the signature line is nearly illegible, it appears the first name starts with "R." A. R. Reported that she had personally assisted the female during the August 12th and August 14th purchases and provided a physical description to law enforcement. The female was described, among other attributes, as missing one arm. After the checks were returned, A. R. Reached out to Defendant via the email address provided at the time of purchase. Defendant responded by stating that this was a "priority" for her and she would get it resolved.
An Accurint search of the email address showed that it was associated with Defendant. A review of Defendant's DVS and MRAP photos showed that she matched the description provided by A. R., including missing one arm. Law enforcement obtained a search warrant for the Deerwood bank account and the account details showed that the account was closed on May 7th, 2024, due to check fraud. Law enforcement subsequently confirmed that Bryan Duryee died on March 9th, 2023. Law enforcement called Defendant who was uncooperative and argumentative, and claimed to have made payment to Victim.
