On October 13, 2025, at approximately 5:12 P.M., Minnetonka Police Department and the Crime and Data Analyst generated a call for service at Petco located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Minnetonka, Hennepin County, for a suspicious vehicle that hit the flock camera for a history of using counterfeit currency. Officers responded to the location and observed a 2008 Honda Accord (MN NWL296). Police launched a drone and located the vehicle in the Petco parking lot. The vehicle was parked with two male occupants, the male suspects appearing to use a tool to press or sand money.
The two male suspects then exited the vehicle and entered the store. The crime analyst relayed information to police while on the phone with an employee A. A. Who reported one male suspect left the store without any merchandise before getting back into the driver's seat of the Honda. The second male suspect continued shopping and then attempted to pass a counterfeit one- hundred-dollar bill at checkout. At this time the male in the vehicle began driving away and attempting to leave the male suspect in the store.
Police stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as LEVI DAVID OLSON [DOB REDACTED], Defendant Olson herein. Defendant Olson was detained, and officers entered the store to arrest the second male suspect. Officers conducted an inventory search of the vehicle and located drug paraphernalia, a sander with the name Honey Badger written on it, as well as multiple bags containing laptops, one of which was reported stolen. During a search of Defendant Olson, officers located a small green metal container with two small Ziplock bags containing an unknown white powder.
Within Defendant Olson's wallet, officers located a fifty-dollar bill and two one-hundred-dollar bills, which were suspected counterfeit currency. In a post Miranda statement, Defendant Olson stated that the other male suspect was sanding counterfeit money with a sander. Defendant Olson allegedly told him that it was a bad idea to be sitting in the parking lot while sanding money but claimed he didn’t know that he would use the counterfeit currency. They both entered the store a short time later but claimed to have left to kill time.
Defendant Olson stated he goes by the nickname Honeybadger, as was the name listed on the sander. At present, Defendants Olson is not in custody. Defendant Olson has convictions for Counterfeiting of Currency - Uttering or Possessing in court file ••-CR-••-•••• on July 30, 2025, as well as in 02-CR-24- 7319 on May 7, 2025.
