On September 16, 2025, at approximately 8:40 A.M. Deputy Dillion Brashear was dispatched to assist Madison Lake Police Department at a residence within Madison Lake regarding of man behaving erratically. Deputy Brashear contacted the witness 1 and explained what she observed and that the man was their neighbor and he was seen breaking out of his garage window. Through further investigation Deputy Brashear identified the man as Joseph Scott Hoffman. Witness 1 explained that Hoffman was walking around with his shirt off, incoherent while his car alarm was going off.
While speaking with Witness 1 Deputy Brashear witnessed Hoffman exit a house. Deputy Brashear approached Hoffman for further investigation. Hoffman demonstrated signs of being under the influence of methamphetamine while speaking with Deputy Brashear Hoffman began to turn around and stated he was going inside. Deputy Brashear told him to sit down, which Hoffman refused to do. Witness 2 then stepped outside of the residence. Hoffman was told by Deputy Brashear that he was being detained. Hoffman refused and pulled away.
Eventually Hoffman sat down, and Deputy Brashear placed Hoffman in handcuffs. Defendant then stood up and tried to push past Deputy Brashear. Hoffman attempted to kick the Deputy. Hoffman was told to stop but then kicked Deputy Brashear’s leg. Hoffman was told to stop but continued to resist and attempt to stand. Hoffman was then told he was under arrest. Hoffman was held there until Deputy Rother arrived on scene. Defendant was then placed in Deputy Rothers’s squad car. Witness 2 then showed Deputy Brashear the damage to the garage window and rear patio door.
Witness 2 indicated that Hoffman and Witness 2 rent this home from someone else and they do not own it. Witness 2 also went onto to say that Hoffman had been destroying the inside of the apartment since early this morning.
