On December 26, 2025, Carver County Sheriff’s Corporal Buckentin went to Pioneer Storage and Rental, located at 13775 74th Street, in the City of Mayer, County of Carver, on a report of theft. There, Corporal Buckentin met with the complainant, the owner of the company, Timothy Allen Anderson. Mr. Anderson stated that he had rented a Bobcat Mini Track Loader on December 22, 2025, to Carlos K. Davis, hereafter Defendant. The Defendant later requested a later pick-up date of December 23. According to the rental agreement, this Bobcat was scheduled to be returned two days later.
The Bobcat was never returned. According to the rental agreement, the purported job site for the rental was [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Minneapolis. Mr. Anderson stated he was not present at the shop, but an assistant, Ethan Johnson, had helped the Defendant load the Bobcat onto a trailer on December 23. The shop had surveillance video which reveals a gray Ford pickup and a trailer; however, this store surveillance video did not capture the license plate number. The Bobcat at issue is a 2025 Mini Track Loader Model MT100, serial number B52P52659. The rental agreement required a payment of $433.50 for the 2-day usage.
The provided Visa Credit Card (**** **** **** 7442 – Exp 5/30) come back as fraudulent. The value of the Bobcat is $35,500.00 dollars, resulting in a total loss of $35,933.50 dollars. Mr. Anderson stated that all renters are required to provide a driver’s license as part of the rental agreement. The driver’s license pertinent to the rental of this Bobcat was as follows: Carlos K Davis [DOB REDACTED], Illinois Driver’s License No. D120-1117-5278. The listed address on the Defendant’s driver’s license was [ADDRESS REDACTED], Joliet, Illinois 60436. The Defendant’s physical description was “HGT: 5-10 – WGT: 285 lbs – EYES: BRN.” After the Bobcat was not returned, Mr. Anderson discovered that the phone number given by Carlos K. Davis, hereafter the Defendant, was no longer in service.
More specifically, the number provided by the Defendant, (612) 875 -7476 registers to the “Egan Company” in Minneapolis as an active wireless. However, attempts to call the number result in a message stating the voicemail box has not been set up yet, then the line disconnects. Further, Mr. Anderson discovered that the address of [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Minneapolis is a residential home owned by a person other than the Defendant. Corporal Buckentin began investigating law enforcement databases and his findings indicated that the Defendant once had the address of [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Joliet, Illinois, the address the Defendant provided as part of the rental agreement, but the Defendant now more likely lived at either [ADDRESS REDACTED] Chicago, Illinois 60612 or [ADDRESS REDACTED] Saint Louis, Missouri 63113. Corporal Buckentin examined Facebook and found a “Carlos Davis” Facebook profile with a picture.
This Carlos Davis claims to live in Joliet, Illinois. Corporal Buckentin examined the photo on the driver’s license submitted to Mr. Anderson and the photo on Facebook. These photos appeared to match. After the Bobcat was not returned, Mr. Anderson accessed the GPS on the Bobcat and found the Bobcat’s location to be near South Burnham Ave, Calumet City, Thornton Township, Cook County Illinois 2 10-CR-26-211 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 3/12/2026 60411. This location appears to be near a rail yard next to the Calumet City Prairie and March Nature Preserve.
