All of the conduct described herein occurred within the County of St. Louis, State of Minnesota, unless otherwise noted. On November 1, 2025 at approximately 5:03 A.M., officers with the Duluth Police Department were dispatched to the report of a domestic disturbance at [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Duluth, St. Louis County, Minnesota. The reporting party indicated the neighbors were outside having a very loud argument. Officers arrived and parked about 1/4 block down from the address and began to approach on foot.
Officers could hear an engine revving and saw a red vehicle in the driveway of 1208 Kenwood. Based upon there being a potential domestic, the time of night, and that it was the tail end of Halloween, officers were concerned about the possibility of an intoxicated or impaired driver as well as an individual attempting to flee from a domestic event. Officer Anderson approached the front passenger side window of the 2016 Dodge Charger bearing Minnesota license plate [PLATE REDACTED] which registers to a man later identified as JEFFREY ALAN CURRY, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter referred to as the Defendant.
The Defendant was later identified as being the driver of the vehicle. Officer McCormick approached in his squad and parked his vehicle approximately 1 foot from the rear of the Dodge Charger. Almost immediately thereafter, the Defendant put his vehicle into reverse and accelerated into McCormick’s squad. The Defendant then drove a few feet forward attempting to turn and struck a metal light pole in the yard of the residence. Officer McCormick was able to close the distance with his squad. The Defendant attempted to reverse again but was unable to move due to the squad and the light pole.
The Defendant was extracted from the vehicle and placed into handcuffs. Once in handcuffs, the officers were able to smell the overwhelming odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the Defendant. The Defendant was also slurring his speech and had glassy eyes. Officers saw a partially full liquor bottle inside the Defendant’s vehicle. Officers spoke with the Defendant’s girlfriend who advised that the Defendant will physically fight with officers and the last time he dealt with law enforcement, it took six to make an arrest.
Due to the dangerous behaviors demonstrated by the Defendant, officers did not feel it was safe to remove him from handcuffs to perform standardized field sobriety tests. Instead, officers executed a search warrant for the Defendant’s blood at Essentia at 7:06 A.M. The blood sample was sent to the BCA for further testing. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn. Stat. 609.49, intentional failure to appear for duly scheduled court appearances may result in additional criminal charges, and in addition to any arrest warrant that may otherwise be issued by the Court.
