On January 8, 2026, at about 4:10pm, Brooklyn Center Police responded to a call for service which stated that a male was slumped over in the driver's seat of a vehicle, unconscious, with the horn blaring, in the area of the Brooklyn Center Transit Center at [ADDRESS REDACTED] 10 in Brooklyn Center, Hennepin County. While en route, officers were updated by another caller who stated the party in the vehicle may be drunk because they could smell it, but that the party was waking up. The vehicle's license plate was identified as ESL094. Officers also learned on route that the subject vehicle had left the scene and was driving.
Officers located the vehicle driving eastbound on County Road 10 near the intersection of Shingle Creek Parkway. They conducted a stop on the vehicle and identified the driver and sole occupant as ABDULRAHMAN YUSUF ADEM [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. Defendant appeared to be reaching around the vehicle and hanging his hands downward during officers' approach. Defendant seemed very nervous and sluggish and seemed slightly confused. Officers had Defendant step out and saw green liquid in baby bottles in the driver-side door, which they know from experience to be "lean," a common street term for a mixture of recreational drugs and codeine or cough syrup.
With the door open, officers were also able to see a digital scale in the driver-side door that had white powder residue on it. The lower end of a drum magazine and handgun was also sticking out from under the driver's seat in the same area where Defendant's hands had been. When asked, Defendant informed officers that he did not have a permit to carry. Defendant was detained. In a search incident to arrest, officers located 17.63 grams of what later field-tested positive for methamphetamine, along with $5,247.70 in cash, in Defendant's Nike sling bag, which he was wearing at the time of arrest.
Defendant is currently in custody in Hennepin County Jail.
