On July 20, 2025, the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of financial transaction card fraud. The reporting party J. E. Stated that several purchases occurred on her US Bank Account on July 17, 2025. J. E was still in possession of her card. Transaction 1: Maple Grove Sam's Club: $42.90 for gas at 2031 hours. Transaction 2: Maple Grove Sam’s Club: $330.32 for a purchase at 2014 hours. Transaction 3, 4, 5, 6: Touch Tunes Mobile: four transactions at $7.00 each, two occurring at 1742 hours, 2012 hours, and 2257 hours.
Transaction 7: Another transaction cleared on July 21, 2025, on her closed card for $582.75 from Walmart.com. The Sam's Club transactions were made under a real person's name, D. L., who did not have an account with Sam's Club. The account was made online on July 17, 2025, - the same day as the purchases. Making an account online did not require an identification to verify the account. Officers contacted D. L. And confirmed he did not make the account. Walmart receipts showed a Vizio 50" TV and a Coffee Maker were purchased in transaction 2 by a female wearing a sleeveless Under Armor shirt.
The female was later identified as MARANDA MARIE WILKINS, Defendant herein. The TV was placed on top of the cart, and the Defendant is observed walking through the exit doors. Surveillance also showed the Defendant purchasing gas in transaction 1. She is wearing a red purse in the video. She is driving a black Nissan Altima with Minnesota license plate [PLATE REDACTED]. The Defendant had been previously stopped in 2024 in this vehicle by Fridley Police Officers, arrested on warrants, and identified.
The booking photo from that stop matches the Defendant in surveillance at the gas pump and exiting Walmart with the TV. The July 21, 2025, the $582.75 Walmart.com transaction was delivered on July 16, 2025, to [ADDRESS REDACTED] South, Minneapolis, under another person's name, phone number, and email, E. E. The address was listed to CityLine Apartments. Surveillance showed a female at the apartment, not E. E. Who is a male. Officers conducted an interview with the Defendant who stated that she had not heard of D. L. Or J. E.; she had never owned a car and does not drive; had never been to Sam's Club in Maple Grove; had never been in a black Nissan Altima despite being advised of the prior stop by Fridley Police; and was not the person in the surveillance video purchasing gas or the TV. Officers advised she was currently wearing the red purse that she is seen in surveillance purchasing gas.
The Defendant stated she did not remember being there. She was shown the still shots of surveillance video and then stated she was the person in the surveillance still shots. Officers left the Defendant's interview and within 10 minutes observed her driving the black Nissan Altima, park at an elementary school, and exit the driver's door of the vehicle. The Defendant's driver's license is revoked. 3 27-CR-25-32409 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 12/26/2025 The Defendant is currently out of custody.
