On August 27, 2025 at approximately 4:10PM, Officers Mohamed and Sjodin of the Faribault Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance on Birn-hill Drive in the City of Faribault, Rice County, Minnesota. Officer Mohamed spoke with the adult female, later identified as MAGGIE ELIZABETH CARLSON [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, who explained that she arrived at the Birn-hill Drive residence, where her father, M. C., Victim herein, resided with Defendant's son, J. C. Defendant told the officer that she does not have legal guardianship over her J. C., that Defendant has custody of J. C., but stated that Defendant has visitation rights.
Defendant told Officer Mohamed that while she was holding J. C. In her arms, she and Victim got in a verbal dispute. Defendant said that Victim attempted to take J. C. From Defendant's arms and told her to leave the residence. Officer Sjodin spoke with Victim, [NAME REDACTED] during the verbal dispute, Victim attempted to have Defendant leave the residence as he was trying to take control of the situation. Victim further explained that as he attempted to take control of the child, [NAME REDACTED] in the stomach and bit Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Officer Sjodin observed a visible bite mark on Victim's left hand.
A review of Defendant's criminal history does not show any qualifying prior convictions which would enhance this offense.
