This case involves a law enforcement encounter.
On or about March 7th, 2026, Minneapolis Police responded to a report of a shooting near the corner of 15th and Nicollet Avenue, in the City of Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Responding officers located Victim, a known adult male, laying on the front steps of an apartment building with an apparent gunshot wound to the back of his head. He was transported to a hospital where serious brain injuries were observed. As of the writing of this complaint, he remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Officers obtained surveillance footage of the area. The video showed a dark Chevrolet SUV arrive and park near the above location and four people exit. One of the individuals, later identified by a witness as Co-respondent M. C. J., who was wearing light colored pants, white shoes, a light brown or tan jacket, exited the front passenger seat. Another individual, later identified by a witness as Co-defendant AJAY JOSEPH MEYER, [DOB REDACTED], exited the driver's side rear passenger seat wearing a light colored jacket and dark pants.
And Co-defendant Meyer's brother, Co-respondent G. J. M., who the witness confirmed was known as "J-Dot," exited the right rear passenger seat wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with a white logo running vertically up and down its back. Approximately 8 minutes later, a second vehicle arrived and parked next to the first. A male who was wearing an unzipped black hooded sweat shirt with a white t-shirt underneath, black pants with a red patch on one leg, and white shoes exited the rear right passenger seat; a witness later identified that male as Defendant TAHDRE TENNIN, [DOB REDACTED]. Later, Co- respondent M. C. J. Can be seen handing Co-defendant Meyer an object that is consistent in appearance with a semiautomatic handgun.
Video showed the group, including Defendant, Co-respondent M. C. J., Co-defendant Meyer, Co- respondent G. J. M., walked from where the vehicles were parked to where Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Victim [NAME REDACTED] in this area before the group approached. He was wearing a long-sleeved sweatshirt. The group approached Victim, and several members of the group put their hands on Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Co-respondent M. C. J. Was visible on video striking victim [NAME REDACTED]. Co-respondent G. J. M. Then walked away carrying Victim’s sweatshirt.
The remaining group continued to struggle with Victim [NAME REDACTED]. The video showed Victim turned towards the surveillance camera with his hands up. Defendant was visible holding a pistol to the back of Victim's head. A few seconds later, a single muzzle flash was visible near Victim’s head. Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Defendant and the remaining accomplices immediately ran back to their vehicles and left. On March 13, 2026, police executed a search warrant at a residence in Inver Grove Heights. Co- respondent G. J. M. And Co-defendant Meyer were both arrested at that location.
Police also located a handgun and a 9-millimeter cartridge inside the home. Police conducted forensic testing on the firearm to compare it to a discharged cartridge case collected at the scene of the shooting. That examination showed that the recovered pistol matched the DCC found near Victim. On March 20, 2026, Defendant was arrested during the execution of a search warrant at an apartment in Mahtomedi, Minnesota. In a post-Miranda interview, Defendant admitted to being present at the shooting location and handling a firearm that was being passed around between his companions.

Defendant also admitted to walking to the entryway where Victim was shot and running away with his companions after the shooting.
