On January 6, 2026, at approximately 4:36 A.M., an officer with Columbia Heights Police Department was at [ADDRESS REDACTED] NE, city of Columbia Heights, within the County of Anoka when they observed an individual who the officer had previously assisted in arresting for drug possession, but the individual claimed to have ingested fentanyl and was not charged. The officer checked law enforcement records and identified the individual as Christopher Michael Earhart [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter Defendant, and observed the Defendant had a felony theft warrant out for his arrest as well as other misdemeanor warrants.
The officer approached Defendant and had Defendant confirm his last name, and the officer placed him under arrest for the warrants, which were confirmed by dispatch. Defendant immediately stated “I ingested fetty,” which the officer believed to be a lie to avoid going to jail. An ambulance was called to monitor Defendant’s vitals, which were normal, and Defendant was transported to the hospital for observation. In a post-arrest search of Defendant’s backpack officers located a black zipper pouch.
Inside the pouch was a scale and a small clear baggy containing a white rocky substance. The substance was sent to the Midwest Regional Forensic Laboratory for testing and was found to be 0.027 grams of methamphetamine. Defendant has a prior felony conviction for drug possession. On March 13, 2019, Defendant plead guilty to 152.021.2(a)(2)(I), possession of 25 grams or more of a controlled substance and a firearm. See 31-CR- 18-1665.
