The digital scale had a white residue on it which subsequently tested positive for methamphetamine. Also located nearby was a clear plastic bag containing multiple plastic microbaggies, commonly used to store controlled substances. On a shelf near the table was a blue glass smoking device with two (2) glass pipes penetrating the main chamber. Said deputy recognized it as a device used for smoking methamphetamine. There was a small amount of water in the bottom of the bong. Two (2) other bongs were also located on the same shelf.
The scale on the table and the bongs on the table and shelf would be within the reach of children ages 7-15. 2 31-CR-26-185 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 1/22/2026 Also located on the property was a camper occupied by Michael Paul Massi and Natasha Jasmine Rae Crandall. During a search of the camper, officers located a clear baggie containing suspected methamphetamine on the bed. The contents of the baggie weighed 2.44 grams and field tested positive for methamphetamine. A baggie with meth residue (field tested positive) was also located in the top right drawer of the vanity in the bedroom, and another was located in the top left vanity drawer in the bedroom.
Inside a black backpack claimed by Massi, officers located several baggies containing methamphetamine residue (field tested positive) and a set of metal knuckles attached to a pocket knife. Another baggie containing methamphetamine residue was located in the bedroom above the television. During a Mirandized statement, Massi told Deputy Johnson that there would be a "little methamphetamine" in his black backpack in the camper. He admitted to using methamphetamine the previous day. During her mirandized statement to Deputy Johnson, Crandall admitted previously using methamphetamine, but stated she had been sober for two (2) weeks.
Statements from other witnesses at the scene indicated that Crandall had been living in the camper since mid-summer. The three (3) children residing at the residence were placed on holds through Itasca County Health and Human Services.
