Schroeder did not observe any marks on Victim A’s neck. Officers searched the area and were unable to locate the defendant. On March 23, 2026, law enforcement was advised that Victim A saw the defendant enter her home and disable her security cameras. Victim A was not home and consented to law enforcement entering the residence. Officers arrived at Victim A’s residence, entered the property, and located the defendant upstairs. Hicks and Det. Walski made contact with the defendant. Hicks read the defendant the Miranda warning. The defendant stated he understood and agreed to speak with the detectives. The defendant stated that he and Victim A got into an argument and that she started slapping him in the face. The defendant stated he attempted to stop her by wrapping her in a bear hug. He said Victim A grabbed him by the shirt and then punched him in the face. The defendant explained that when he grabbed her it was not in an aggressive way, but in a loving way.
The defendant stated that he was at Victim A’s residence for his daughter’s birthday party and planned to stay the weekend. He stated that things were rocky between the two of them and they began to argue about taking him home. He stated that when Victim A “shuts down,” he gets anxious, which causes her to “hair trigger.” He stated the argument started inside the residence, but most of the arguing and fighting occurred outside near the driveway or front yard. The defendant denied spitting on Victim A and denied putting his hands on her neck.
The defendant had red marks around his left eye that he stated were from Victim A punching him repeatedly.
