On 11/02/2025 at about 1744 hours, Roseville Police spotted a black 2017 Hyundai that had been reported out of California (CA/9PWB845). The vehicle was in the parking lot of the Sierra store located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Roseville, Ramsey County. The value of the vehicle exceeded $5,000. Police also saw a male wearing a red hat and red shirt peering out the Sierra store window into the parking lot. The male, later identified as Anthony Pace BAKKE [DOB REDACTED], appeared startled by the police presence and then quickly walked away from the windows which police believed suspicious.
Police entered the Sierra store. When they approached BAKKE, BAKKE began maneuvering evasively through the clothing racks. He then made a sudden movement to his waistband, ducked down out of view, and popped back up. Police ordered him to stop, but BAKKE fled, frantically trying to make his way to the front door. BAKKE unsuccessfully jumped over a display, tripped, and fell to the ground. After being tased, police were able to take BAKKE into custody. Police searched under the rack that BAKKE had crouched behind and found a loaded.22 automatic pistol.
When police found the gun, BAKKE said it was a "BB gun". BAKKE had an active warrant. During a search incident to arrest, police found two knives in his pockets and a pistol holster in a black sling style bag he was carrying. Based in part on CCTV footage, Police determined that BAKKE had entered the store with three other people who exited the store as police entered. One of the those suspects, later identified as BOYCE, was found hiding in the Chili’s restaurant bathroom nearby. A Chili’s staff member told police she overheard BOYCE talking on her phone saying “They’re looking for me.” BOYCE was taken into custody.
BOYCE had active warrants. During a post-Miranda interview, BAKKE initially denied driving the Hyundai. When police said they would be reviewing CCTV footage, BAKKE admitted that he was driving the vehicle. He said he got it from a friend named "Jimmy" on 10/30/25 and did not know it was stolen. Inexplicably, BAKKE then said that the others who were with him in the vehicle knew it was stolen. BAKKE admitted possessing the firearm in his cross body bag but said it belonged to someone else and he –was “just holding onto it." BAKKE has a prior GM conviction for Carry/Possess Pistol w/out Permit and a felony 5th degree drug conviction that makes him ineligible to possess a firearm and/or ammunition (••-CR-••-••••). BAKKE claimed he had ingested narcotics.
Police administered Narcan and BAKKE was transported to Regions Hospital. In a post-Miranda interview, BOYCE said BAKKE, who is her boyfriend, was driving the Hyundai but she didn’t know who owned it. She said knew it was stolen. BOYCE said she and BAKKE were going to the Sierra store to shoplift. During a search of the Hyundai, police found a cordless drill, cell phones, a two-way radio, credit cards belonging to numerous different people, and numerous coins.
