On 5/2/2026, at approximately 1604 hours, BPD officers were dispatched to the area of [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Bloomington, Hennepin County. Officers learned from Dispatch that there was a domestic occurring in a moving vehicle that later parked at 1900 86th Street. Upon arrival, officers observed a vehicle matching the description given by Dispatch, a 2004 Ford Taurus bearing Minnesota RWVB 452, occupied by a male driver and a female passenger. As officers began pulling into the address, the vehicle was backing out of a parking spot.
The male driver appeared very animated, gesturing with his hands. He was later identified as HENGLENDT DAVID CALATAYUD CABRERA, [DOB REDACTED] (now referred to as "Defendant"). Officers pulled behind the vehicle and activated their overhead flashing emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop to investigate. The driver then fled at a high rate of speed, driving northbound in the parking lot around the 1900 Building. Officers activated their siren along with their overhead lights and the vehicle then came to a stop around the southwest corner of the building.
The female passenger, Victim [NAME REDACTED], attempted to exit the car. The driver, still very animated and agitated, exited the vehicle and approached the squad car. Both occupants were given loud verbal commands to stay in the car numerous times. Victim [NAME REDACTED] did as instructed and got back into the vehicle. Defendant briefly went back in his car but then re-emerged. Defendant attempted to speak with the officer but there was a language barrier. The officer waited for backup before approaching Defendant.
While waiting, the Defendant got back into his vehicle and fled through the parking lot. The officer pursued the fleeing vehicle through the lot where it drove over a curb while trying to find an exit. Officers observed Defendant hit Victim [NAME REDACTED] as he was driving away. Fearing that he was continuing to assault her, officers continued pursuing the fleeing car. Defendant was making such abrupt turns that smoke was coming from his tires. The vehicle continued fleeing westward out of the parking lot onto the service road, at which point the officer moved into position for a PIT (Pursuit Intervention Technique) maneuver to stop the vehicle, which was successful.
Defendant was then taken into custody. Victim [NAME REDACTED] was removed from the vehicle and told officers that today Defendant came over to her house. They drove through St. Paul while Defendant Door Dashed. Victim [NAME REDACTED] wanted to leave at some point and they began arguing. Victim [NAME REDACTED] called 911. Defendant found out and got really angry. Defendant took the phone away when Victim was speaking with 911 and he threw it on the side of the car. Victim [NAME REDACTED] stated that as soon as Defendant saw the police cars, he started driving "crazy," did not want to stop, saying, "Why did you call the f****** police?!" 2 ••-CR-••-•••• Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 5/5/2026 Victim [NAME REDACTED] told him to stop driving like that and he said, "If we are going to die, we are going to die together!"
