In court file ••-CR-••-••••, NICHOLE CAITLIN WEDIN, [DOB REDACTED], was convicted of Violation of Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree, felony, a crime of violence, conviction date 2/13/2024. WEDIN is prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition in the State of Minnesota. On November 2, 2025, at approximately 3:06 P.M., Roseville Police Officer Cook was notified of a shoplifting at H&M, Rosedale Center, 1595 Highway 36 West, Roseville, County of Ramsey. Store Manager BF reported a male and female entered H & M, and worked together to steal at least one item.
Rosedale security located the male and female walking out of the south side of the mall. The female was carrying a gray backpack. The male carried shoe boxes and a Burlington Northern shopping bag. Officer Cook approached the male and female and advised they were under arrest for the theft at H&M. The male-later identified as McGee- said he only took one pair of white sweatpants from the store. The female was identified as WEDIN. Officer Cook searched the backpack that WEDIN was carrying at the time of her arrest.
Inside the backpack, there were multiple articles of clothing, some with price tags to unknown stores. Under the clothes, there was a loaded Kel-Tec.380 handgun without a visible serial number. The firearm was loaded with an extended magazine containing seven rounds of ammunition, and one round in the chamber. WEDIN removed a white pair of sweatpants from her waistband that she said were stolen from H&M. WEDIN was searched. A black t-shirt with a North Face price tag was in the front of WEDIN’s pants.
McGee was searched. A brown Coach wallet with numerous financial cards and identity documents in the names of other people was found in McGee’s pants pocket. McGee refused to provide a voluntary DNA sample. A search warrant was obtained and a DNA sample was taken from McGee. WEDIN consented to and provided a DNA sample. After a Miranda advisory, WEDIN spoke to Officer Cook. WEDIN confirmed she shoplifted a pair of pants by concealing it while in the fitting room of H&M. WEDIN said the backpack was hers.
She obtained the backpack earlier in the day from a church in Saint Paul. She placed all of her clothes-also given to her at the church- in the bag. She did not know McGee placed a firearm in the bag. WEDIN said she entered a family fitting room with McGree earlier in the day and saw McGee in the bag. Earlier in the day, she reached into the bag and felt a hard object. She now believed the hard object was the firearm. She did not look at the item. WEDIN confirmed her DNA would be on the firearm because she touched it.
Rosedale Security reviewed surveillance video and confirmed WEDIN was the sole person in possession of the backpack when entering H&M, exiting H&M, and walking through Rosedale Center until stopped by police. MCGEE denied knowing about a gun. Both WEDIN and McGee have convictions that make them ineligible to possess firearms and ammunition in the State of Minnesota. 2 ••-CR-••-•••• Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 11/3/2025 WEDIN had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for False Information to Police.
