On September 28, 2025, at approximately 10:43 P.M., Bloomington Police were dispatched to a theft from a vehicle at Wyndham Hotel, located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Bloomington, Hennepin County. The officer spoke with the two victims H. S. And J. A. Who reported that someone had stolen items from the vehicle, including multiple bank cards. J. A. Received a message from his Capitol One bank with an attempted transaction on September 26, 2025, for $1,009.90. An investigator was assigned and began going through several transactions that occurred on the victim's cards.
Between 9/25/2025-9/27/2025, J. A.'s card ending in #7295 had approximately $9,995.28 in fraudulent transactions charged. H. S.'s card ending in #3758 had approximately $1,910.05 in fraudulent transactions charged. The investigator began contacting the locations of the fraudulent charges and obtained surveillance footage of a female suspect wearing a burqa in the videos. Through multiple Speedway gas stations surveillance videos, the investigator observed the same female suspect making the transactions which were often to purchase gift cards.
The investigator contacted TJX asset protection to obtain surveillance from incidents at HomeGoods and Marshalls and still frame photos showed the same female suspect conducting the transactions on the stolen credit card. On February 13, 2026, the investigator spoke with another detective about the case, and the detective immediately recognized the female suspect as MATIKA SHAQUA JOHNSON ([DOB REDACTED]), Defendant herein. The detective had prior contact with Defendant during an unrelated retail theft.
The investigator obtained a recent photograph of Defendant through MRAP dated 11/20/2025 and compared it to the facial photographs from the surveillance and confirmed it to be a match. The investigator placed a KOPS alert on Defendant's vehicle but has been unsuccessful in locating Defendant. At present, Defendant is not in custody.
