On or about April 1, 2026, West Hennepin Public Safety officers were dispatched to a residential apartment building at [ADDRESS REDACTED], Maple Plain, Hennepin County, Minnesota. The reporting party, “Victim” herein, reported that his girlfriend, PAULA LEIGH SPENCER [DOB REDACTED], “Defendant” herein, stabbed him. Police arrived and made contact with an individual, “Witness 1” herein. Witness 1 said the defendant fled on foot northbound. Witness 1 told police he saw defendant running through the parking lot screaming, “I got him, I got him.” Police talked to another individual, “Witness 2” herein.
Witness 2 said she overheard defendant screaming outside, “I stabbed him, I stabbed him, I stabbed him.” Police made contact with the victim. Victim had several small puncture wounds to his left shoulder. The wounds were not consistent with a knife. The victim told police that he and the defendant spent most the day together and their interactions were peaceful. Defendant later in the evening became increasingly agitated and continued to ask him to help her obtain drugs. The victim [NAME REDACTED] into the living room and sat down in an office-style chair near Defendant, who was lying on the couch.
He said she suddenly lunged at him and began attacking him with an object. He said it happened quickly, and the defendant immediately fled the apartment. During the investigation, police located a screwdriver in the apartment parking lot with brown/red stains on the flat end of the tool. Defendant was located and subsequently transported to the hospital. At the time of the incident, Defendant had an active warrant for failing to appear at a hearing on February 11, 2026 (See court file no. 27-CR-21-11102). Defendant poses a threat to public and victim safety.
