At around 5:30 PM on May 4, 2026, officers responded to a series of shootings that occurred around Grand Casino Arena at [ADDRESS REDACTED], St. Paul, Ramsey County after a Metro State graduation that was held at the facility. Two people were shot near Kellogg Boulevard and taken to the hospital in a shooting between Muddy and Vill gang members and associates. A witness described two groups of men standing on opposite sides of Kellogg Boulevard. One of the men lunged as if throwing a punch. Two men drew firearms.
The witness heard 2-4 gunshots. Officers found six 9mm shell casings marked AMMO INC by the River Center loading dock. Officers found three.40 caliber casings marked WIN 40 S&W by the loading dock entrance and on the south sidewalk of Kellogg Boulevard. Officers found a.223 rifle casing marked FC 223 REM in the eastbound lane of Kellogg Boulevard. Officers found three 9mm shell casings marked SIG 9mm in the westbound lanes of Kellogg Boulevard. ZAKRIYA HAASHI SAID [DOB REDACTED] and HH [DOB REDACTED] were both transported to United Hospital at [ADDRESS REDACTED] North, St. Paul, Ramsey County for medical treatment.
Zakriya Said had a gunshot wound to his face which caused multiple bone fractures. HH [DOB REDACTED] had a gunshot wound to his right thigh. Zakriya Said didn’t recall what happened. Zakriya Said only remembered walking, closing his eyes, and “hitting a wall.” Zakriya Said said a doctor told him he had been shot from a distance. When HH entered United Hospital in a wheelchair, Zakriya Said’s brother, BILE HAASHI SAID [DOB REDACTED], and two others physically assaulted HH. Hospital security intervened and took Bile Said to the floor.
Bile said, “He shot my brother.” Officers detained Bile Said and the others with him who physically attacked HH including DAS. Bile Said denied Zakriya Said or he were part of any feuds, and he did not know why they had been targeted. Bile Said is a known Vill gang member. DAS told police he was with friends and family outside the arena. Another group began “chirping them,” and his cousin, Zakriya Said chirped back. A man from the opposing group approached and hit Zakriya Said’s face. DAS heard gunshots and ran to his car.
DAS saw two cousins holding Zakriya Said who had been shot. They put Zakriya Said in DAS’s car – a Honda Accord bearing Minnesota license plates ZRV300. DAS drove to the hospital. DAS had seen HH at the site of the shooting. DAS said they attacked HH because HH told them they were going to die, and they didn’t know if HH had a gun. Officers searched DAS’s Accord which had transported Zakriya Said to the hospital pursuant to a warrant, and they found a live round of.223 PMC REM ammunition inside the car.
At the hospital, HH told police he went to his cousin’s graduation at the arena. Family and friends were taking photos by Door 1. Two large groups began arguing. One group was on the same side of the street as HH, and the other group was across the street by the arena. HH claimed he ignored the arguing and just did his thing. Shots rang out from the group across the street. HH heard return gunfire coming from his side of the street. HH ran. HH saw a Black male wearing black clothing and a ski mask holding an AR-15-style assault rifle.
