Reporting party called informing law enforcement that his vehicle had been removed from his property, which should have been parked behind his residence, located in Big Lake, Sherburne County, MN. Reporting party advised that no one had permission to use the vehicle. Reporting party advised that his son-in-law, identified as CURTIS ADAM ADAMS, [DOB REDACTED] [hereinafter defendant] was supposed to be installing the flooring at the home, while he was away. In speaking with reporting party, Officer Sandberg also learned that keys to the vehicle had been hidden in reporting party’s dresser drawer and only two people had access to the residence, the defendant and his son.
Officer Sandberg then made contact with reporting party’s son, RCH. RCH advised that he was looking over the home while his father was away and noticed that the vehicle had been gone for approximately one month. RCH reported that he did not know who took the vehicle, however reported that the keys that were stored in the dresser were also missing. Officer Sandberg conducted a flock safety search and observed the vehicle traveling in Elk River, on January 20, 2026 and in Brookyln Center on February 13, 2026. On February 20, 2026, Detective Martin learned that the Becker Police Department had located the vehicle.
The vehicle was being driven by a female individual and was being followed by another vehicle that the defendant was driving. Law enforcement made contact with the female driver who advised she knew the vehicle had been reported stolen. Law enforcement also made contact with the defendant who admitted that he had taken the vehicle from reporting party’s residence and did not have permission. Defendant also admitted that he knew the vehicle was reported stolen and continued to use the vehicle. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn.
