On 12/05/2025 at about 1933 hours, St. Paul Police responded to an apartment at [ADDRESS REDACTED] in St. Paul, Ramsey County for a report of domestic assault. On arrival, police spoke to JJZ who said that her boyfriend, later identified as Amir Rashaad CALVIN ([DOB REDACTED]), had assaulted her. JJS said she and CALVIN were arguing. CALVIN charged at her and held both her hands against the bed. She asked CALVIN to leave at which time CALVIN choked her with his right hand and used his left hand to hold her wrist.
He then threw JJS to the other side of the bed and choked her while her head was hanging off the bed. CALVIN said “B**** stop playing with me” as he strangled her. JJS said he was not able to breath, speak, or scream. When JJS said she was going to call police, CALVIN took her phone. When JJS tried to leave the apartment, CALVIN pulled her, grabbed her by her neck, said “'B**** you're not leaving.” He then threw her down and pinned her on the floor. When JJS again said she was going to call police, CALVIN and his friend left.
JJS provided police a description of CALVIN and his friend. Police searched the area, found CALVIN and took him into custody. CALVIN declined to be interviewed. CALVIN has at least three QDVROs in the last ten years: Violate No Contact Order; ••-CR-••-•••• Domestic Assault; ••-CR-••-•••• 3rd Degree Assault; ••-CR-••-•••• For purposes of Rule 6.02, CALVIN has an open felony case for 5th Degree Drugs (x2) (••-CR-••-••••).
