On November 6, 2025, at approximately 1:36am, Officer Monaghan from the Dillworth Police Department was patrolling the area of Center Avenue E. And 7th Street in Dillworth, Clay County, Minnesota when he observed a suspicious vehicle crossing Center Avenue. The driver of the vehicle was later identified as Benjamin Mikkel Pawlowski [DOB REDACTED] (“Defendant”). Officer Monaghan observed the passenger vehicle to have no license plates and heavy window tint. The vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign on 7th street Northeast, stopping past the stop sign.
Officer Monaghan conducted a U-turn and as he did, the vehicle failed to signal its turn prior to 100 feet and sped up causing the wheels to break loss from the pavement in a reckless manner. This caused a screeching noise to emanate from the vehicle. As Officer Monaghan turned to follow the vehicle, he observed the vehicle to be traveling at an excessive speed, failing to stop at a stop sign. Officer Monaghan activated his lights and sirens and began to pursue the vehicle. The vehicle failed to stop and continued to flee traveling into the City of Moorhead and reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.
The vehicle turned to head west onto 1st Avenue North when it hit the curb causing the vehicle to lose its front tire and crash into a nearby tree. The Defendant exited the vehicle with his hands up and was taken into custody. Officer Monaghan searched the vehicle incident to arrest and found a backpack near the passenger seat that was transported to the jail with the Defendant. Jail staff later searched the backpack and found a white powder like substance inside the backpack.
